She’s all ready to go- with my hat, Jed’s backpack, and her one clashing shoe which is on the wrong foot.

Gotta love this stage… :)

This is Why…

I couldn’t keep my sister’s cake in my fridge overnight.

I just knew that it wouldn’t be safe here.

Poor Mario… poor, poor, Mario…

Before:

mario before

After:

mario after

That is what I found in my fridge this morning when I came downstairs.

Jeddy started crying when I asked who did it, but Elijah had red smears on his cheek.

Who was the culprit???

Hmmm….

More about the cake that my sister and I made for Adam later on…

This week, I decided that it had been too long since I attempted a photo of all 7 kids together. So here’s what we got…

kids_bw Ella pouted the entire time, except for this one picture, where she jumped up to try and run away.

I’ve accepted the fact that I will probably never have a photo of all 7 of them looking at the camera, smiling, with open eyes…

They’ve taught me to treasure the pictures of these real moments- frozen in time. Life with kids, is never really picture perfect anyhow.

Fun, busy, a little bit crazy and unpredictable… yep, that’s more like it.

Ella’s first bath….

Don’t be alarmed…. I said “bath.”

I regularly shower my kids, I just don’t *do* baths. I can run showers like an assembly line and have 7 kids squeaky clean in a matter of minutes.

Tonight however, I gave in to the boys’ request to have a bath, and decided to throw Ella in there too. For the first minute, she just sat there grasping the edge of the tub saying, “Mommy! Mommy!” I tried to get her to play with the toys- she wasn’t having it. She just ignored me.

But when Elijah tried to get her to play with the toys…. and put some bubbles on her chin….

ella in the bath Let’s just say, she doesn’t like it when her brothers try to tell her what to do.

poor El

Don’t worry, Evie heard Ella’s screams and came to the rescue!

 saved from the tub1

Eve can always cheer Ella up. Unless Ella is really mad… then she just pinches Eve in the eye, or screams at her while trying to pull her nose off.

But most of the time- they’re best buddies!

saved from the tub2

The boys didn’t want to get out. Elijah was a little hyper I think….

crazy elijah They eventually did get out, looking all soggy.

Forty-five minutes after the whole ordeal began, I cleaned up the bathroom floor and remembered why I don’t *do* baths…

He Cheats…

DSC_0853

Last night while we were playing Scrabble, Scott played the word “wop.” I wasn’t sure if it was an actual word, but figured it wasn’t worth challenging. So a few turns later, when I had a bingo and made it “wops”… he challenged it! Get that? He challenged his own word! Which turned out not to be a word after all… Though, I think he already knew that.

We had a good Monday. For a Monday… :)

My house is clean, and I only have 3 baskets of laundry waiting, so I call that a good day!

Even if I did get a headache from Ella banging on the piano all morning!

DSC_0713 copy

She is getting quite the attitude on her. This morning, she told me “no” while giving me cut-eye. But then she told me, “Potty!” and actually used the toilet- so I forgave her…

I finally have my new dot com up and running, so feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! I’m not quite finished, but it will do for now.

Pray

Ask Him. Why do you fight it?

Our very nature of life demands that we seek Him for breath, for heart beat, for safety, for sustenance, for health, for more time, for our own personal perspective to be corrected, and for most and best of all, Him.

When honesty is mixed with musing, we cannot but notice He is there. Thus, if He is there, and He can hear, and He would hear, why do we not ask?

DSC_0824

Maybe it’s too late. Maybe we’ve already come past the time of climax in the battle of life and realized we are defeated. Is it time to pray now, when all hope is lost? Why didn’t we pray before, hoping in Him? We hoped in ourselves, and now we bathe in the result. Hope in God today while it is not too late.

Maybe we refuse to speak to Him. How dare He have made mistakes in our lives, and then allow such tragedy, and dare say He loves us? If He can do anything why didn’t He just make my life a bed of roses so I could never have a tear? Might I gently say, you are looking up at a universe with your little perspective, while He looks down at every moment of every day from the time He charged it’s suns, powered its gravity and set it in motion. How dare you in your little speck of time judge Him who exists outside of it? Without your tears you would never know a smile’s worth. Without the consequence of action this world would know chaos no mind but His could grasp. We have chosen a life outside the garden of His presence, and our world is exactly what we have made it, hard, cold, and vain. But even though we, as an entire race, have rejected Him in our very culture and essence, He still, in His Fatherly goodness, says “Ask.” Dear soul, He would have you for His child for eternity. Don’t let life’s short circumstances rob you of eternity’s repay. Trust Him, ask Him, and do it today.

Maybe you’re not sure God is even there. He is. I am sure. If you’re not sure you can trust Him, trust me, you can. If you don’t know, that’s okay, choose to believe it. Ask anyways, and expect to receive.

Often my children will ask me for something, and I will refuse. You do the same. I can’t bare the sorrow I would cause by giving them what they asked for, so I would rather say “no” than allow them to suffer. Just because I have the power to give them all that they ask of me, doesn’t mean that I should. Thank God today for a Heavenly Father who always knows best; always judges rightly; always loves.

Have you ever pleaded for something from your enemy? Why would he give you your request? Dear soul, be sure you are God’s child, above all, by receiving the gift of His Son Jesus Christ. For without that, you are as a man pleading with a judge for mercy, when it was his son you had killed. Rather than plead with your enemy, plead with your Father, and receive thy petition. How can you become God’s child? How can you live forever, a part of His family? Ask Him. Right now, stop refusing, and ask Him for eternal life. Then, next time you meet in prayer, you can be sure you meet your Father above, looking down in love. Receive His righteousness applied to you. Not because you are so right, but because He can make you righteous, if you ask.

Ask Him.

“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”

Donuts, Makeup, and Road Tests

…and while Eve is in violin lessons, this is what we do….

 DSC_0734

Keona, Charity, and I, split to buy a dozen donuts. Keona now understands how buying in bulk is cheaper. Did you know that while you can buy a dozen donuts for $6.59, it would cost you $11.40 to buy them individually? She figured that out while we were waiting in line.

I don’t usually like sweets, other than twizzlers… and the odd chocolate bar.. and popeye “candy sticks”…. ok so I DO like sweets, just not usually donuts. But sadly, tonight, I have eaten 3 of them.

I’m disgusted with myself.

Oh well, I’ll just say that we did it to celebrate the fact that today, I passed my final road test. I am officially a “G” class driver!

About time….

The other morning, one of the girls (Prayer to be exact) said, “Mom, are you OK? You look really tired or something.” As she said that, I realized that I hadn’t put on my makeup before we started school. Sidenote: I ALWAYS get dressed, do my hair and makeup before we start school, or I don’t get around to doing it at all during the day. Call me vain- but I hate having to answer the door looking like I just rolled out of bed!

Ok… back to the story. So I grabbed my makeup bag (love my new one Sarah!) and did my makeup at the table while the kids started on math. When, I was finished, Prayer proceed to tell me how beautiful I look with makeup on, while Eve and Charity chimed in, “Oh yeah, so much better than before!”

Gee, thanks guys. Aren’t you supposed to think your Mom is beautiful no matter what!?

So Keona says, “Mom doesn’t need makeup to look pretty. She’s always beautiful.”

Aw… atleast I have one nice one.

Then of course, all of them added, “Yeah, Mom! You look pretty without makeup too!”

Prayer: “Yeah. Just tired…”

Gotta love ‘em.

Oh, and finally, this is what sitting in the van for half an hour while your sister is in violin lessons will do to a little boy…

DSC_0740 copyAh yes, that’s my boy!

Ella colouring- and it’s on paper this time!

Slacking. Again….

Well, not really “slacking” just incredibly busy with other things! I’ve been working on something which I hope to have finished for this weekend! :)

Yesterday I had a really crummy day.

Crummy.

My roadtest that I’ve had booked for a month had to be cancelled because my left signal wasn’t working. (If only I had taken the car!) So, I have to reschedule and pay for it all over again. I got my first few controversial email comments about our blog. haha… I burnt dinner. My favourite picture frame was shattered.

Just one of those days…

So I was in a not so great mood last night when Scott called. OK… So, I was in a really bad mood. The conversation was short. Then I felt bad and called him back…

His phone call helped a bit, but I was still really annoyed with everything. Funny how I was so grumpy, and after he was home for 15- 20 minutes, everything seemed fine. He is such a comfort to me.

Just simply by his presence.

You know, the Bible says, “Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” and I struggle with that! I try my best… but I often times fail.

Ephesians also says, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

And I can honestly say, that I feel loved like that by Scott.

I know that he would do anything for me. I know that he would give himself- for me.

So, when he’s here- everything just seems alright.

laughing

He’ll probably kill me for posting this picture… He was trying to make me laugh, and it worked- I laugh every time I look at it!

Now I promise to add more funny stories about the kids! But for tonight, this is all I’ve got. :)

Ella, asleep on the way home from the Seniors’ ministry.

I tried to take a picture of the kids singing a song and giving hugs to one of our seniors who has been sick for a while and not able to attend…. but unfortunately, Ella was attempting to run down the hallway to see the bird, and Jeddy decided that it was time to lay down on the floor and whine about wanting to go home. So… this is all I got! :)

When You Send a 3 Year Old to Get Your Cell Phone…

You may end up with a bunch of pictures like this on it….

Atleast he didn’t drop it in….

____________________________________________________________________

Had a wonderful day today! Spent the morning researching dogs with the kids. My favourite kind of dog, is actually the dumbest breed! ha… And then we looked at the Humane Society website (which I should have known would be a big mistake!) and we saw “Jake.” Then, Keona had to read his information- where we learned that he’s a super kid-friendly dog, that’s 4 years old and while he’s been there for several months… no one has shown any interest in him. They tried to convince Scott tonight to adopt Jake. But they came to the conclusion that “Dad doesn’t care about the poor dog!” lol

I must admit, I’m a softy and would have gone over to adopt him this afternoon….

Fortunately, I had other things to do. Like a photo shoot of 3 adorable little kiddos, a massive grocery shop, and then a wedding consult. All went well, and now I’m relaxing and playing scrabble with my hunny. While the girls sleep two and two in their brand new bunk beds. Remind me why we bought them a second set of bunk beds that are now sitting there unused????

And I guarantee that it has NOTHING to do with the fact that I’m the one at home all day every day- you know… homeschooling them. ;)

And this homeschooling Mom that we speak of, would never bribe her children to run outside in the –10 degree weather with only sweaters on, just to get a few pictures…

But if she did…

My little jedi- caught red-handed.

“Dummy!”

That is what has been coming out of the mouth of our 3 year old for two weeks now. Of all places, he learned it from Little House on the Prairie! At least it’s a change from “meaner!” He meant “meanie” but had learned it wrong apparently, and it stuck!

We don’t allow name-calling in our house, (unless you’re mom or dad playing Wii together…:) and have never really had a problem with it, but he just refuses to stop saying it! Like it has become a habit already!

We’re working on it….

Meanwhile, Ella has become quite the little chatterbox. She can now call all of her siblings by name! Though, I don’t think she can tell the triplets apart yet! Oh, and every animal still says, “Woof! Woof!” ha… Thankfully, she has only copied “dummy” once…

It’s going to be interesting, watching Ella grow up with two big brothers. She sits and plays cars and airplanes with Jeddy while we do school work.

 DSC_0286

She tackles them and plays rough. Yet, when they take something from her, she screams at the top of her lungs until they give it back.

Or she’ll cry.

Crying always gets her what she wants with her big brothers…

DSC_0140 copy

She’s learning already. ;)

Now, off to do my 7th load of laundry! It’s my  never-ending story…
