Flashback Friday: My Poor... Poor... Boys...

It brought back memories seeing Jed dressed up like Snow White. Two years ago, the girls did the same thing to Elijah... though he only let them do it once. Now when he sees the pictures, he says, " I wish I didn't let them dress me up like that!"

Notice the girls laughing in the background? In one of the pictures of Jed, you can see Elijah laughing in the background. Haha.

He makes one scary looking girl!

A Blessing...

Scott and I were sitting at the kitchen table playing Scrabble last Friday night, when we heard a knock at the door. It didn't seem unusual at all since we were expecting someone any minute... but it actually was unusual...

I heard Scott run out the door and it worried me a bit, seeing as we have no peep hole with the new door and I didn't know who it was, or where he was going. By the time I got to the door, Scott was walking back towards the porch. It was then that I looked down and saw boxes full of groceries, diapers, and some other things sitting there on the doorstep. He had run out to see who it was, but they were already out of sight. We both just stood there in the -35 degree weather in shock. We went back and forth for several minutes wondering who it could have been, before we decided it might be a good idea to bring the groceries in!
( I had to take a picture first...yes, I take pictures of everything!)
(Scott had already taken some stuff in)

Reminds me of the time we were on vacation in Nova Scotia and we had decided to eat breakfast at the hotel (even though we were almost out of money to spend) because everyone was tired and the kids were cranky....then we got to the restaurant and the tables were all full or dirty, and the waitress was in a bad mood...we were wondering if we should just leave. Well, we eventually got a seat and tried to be pleasant and enjoy the meal. The kids were really good, and we ended up having a great time. When we were finished eating Scott asked for the bill and the waitress said, "Oh, it's taken care of!" We were both kind of like, "Huh?" It turns out the old man who had been sitting alone at the table next to us paid for our meal. As he had gotten up to leave he leaned over and said, "You have a beautiful family." We never got to thank him. He was already gone, long before we were done eating.

We still don't know who it was. The amazing thing is, we had to get a whole bunch of "extras" this weekend, and I was wondering how we were going to stay on budget. I should know from past experiences- that God always provides! We've had so many instances where money is running out and God does something amazing to make it last. Kind of like the bread and fish feeding the 5,000 story that I read with the kids this morning! :)
Not only did they bring the "extras" but other things that we had just run out of and needed. God is so good! His timing is always just right. I know that whoever it was, doesn't want us to know who they are... I just hope they know how thankful we are, and what a huge blessing they were to our family.

For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
-Mark 9:41

Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

1 Semester down... 1 more to go!

We are DONE our first semester of school! We had straight A's across the board, except for one B+ in math... but even that grade went up significantly from the first quarter. I am so pleased with the results. I am not an easy grader either. I was always afraid of being "too easy" on my kids, and that they would get an unrealistic perspective of school. I think I may actually be leaning a bit to the other end of the spectrum, and sometimes be a bit too tough on them. I'm working on a balance.

So mostly just for fun, we did a picture day and a survey to keep in their school files. I figured it would be fun to look back on someday. Here are just a few of the cute answers we got...

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Elijah: A hockey player and a watchres. (waitress)

Eve: A mom

Why? Because I like babies.

Favourite place:

Keona and Charity: home

Prayer: PEI

Elijah: Brooks' house

Eve: Grandma's house

I hate it when....

Keona: Eve yells at people

Eve: My brother annoys me

Charity: We have potatoes

Prayer: People call me A.S.H.L.E.Y

If I could have one wish it would be....

Eve: to go on an adventure

Prayer: to go to college

Charity: staying up with Mom and Dad

Elijah: I wish I could play games on Friday and Saturday (long story but it was his punishment lol)

Keona: to get a glimpse of heaven

I was impressed by their answers. Scott and I had a good laugh. Those were just a few of the many questions we asked them. I am so proud of my kids. I'm so thankful that God entrusted me with the responsibility of raising them for Him.
And can I just say one more time... I love homeschooling! :)
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."
3 John 1:4

Not Me! Monday

It was NOT me who slapped the snooze button at 6:30am this morning, pulled Ella into bed with me, and accidentally (on purpose) slept in until quarter to 8....

It was soooo NOT me who ate 500+ calories worth of chocolate last night while playing Scrabble. Yikes, who would do that!?!?

And finally, it was NOT me who beat (destroyed) Scott at Scrabble 3 games in a row this weekend... ;)

Flashback Friday: Flower girls

The triplets were asked to be flower girls for Catherine and Anthony Carruthers' wedding in 2007.
Catherine was their Wednesday night teacher in the toddler nursery, and they
absolutely adore her!

Not Me! Monday

So I saw this idea on a fellow triplet Mom's blog- "Out Numbered Mommy" and thought it was cute.

So here we go, I'm going to give it a try!

I most certainly did NOT purposely push Elijah into a big snow bank after watching him knock his little brother over, and laugh when he couldn't get up because of the snow pants and big puff coat. Nope...not me....

I did NOT laugh when Scott said he was "the boss" and Prayer asked, "Why do you let Mom boss you then?" Not funny at all....

And ... I would NOT feed my kids fish, just to test if they were still allergic. And I did NOT spend the entire night cleaning up their puke because they are still allergic.

A Note from My Son...

All because I didn't help him win the Scrabble challenge during school...he doesn't like losing to his sisters! :O
We did have a talk about how this wasn't very nice...and he then wrote me a "sorry" note...but I must admit, it is kinda funny.

Flashback Friday

Anyone who remembers Elijah during his "nursing" days.... can certainly understand why we simply couldn't resist getting him this shirt!
I'm sure he'll love this pic as a teenager... :S
They have some other really cute ones at Cafe press.

Listen.....

I hope my children look back on today,
And see a Mother who had time to play!
Children grow up while you're not looking,
There'll be years ahead for cleaning and cooking,
So quiet now, cobwebs; dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep.

On Saturday night, I was rushing around cleaning, serving sick kids, trying to catch up on my 1,569,745 loads of laundry and make dinner... I was a little busy to say the least. I was bent over in the pot cupboard searching for a specific pot (why is that the one I want is always at the back on the bottom???) I could hear Jed talking behind me, but just barely over the clanking of the pans. As I was yelling to ask Scott where he had left something, I felt a little tap on my back...then again... I turned around, slightly annoyed, and was face to face with Jed. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Mommy. Listen..." Then he made his way back over to the fridge and went on pointing out all the people in Keona's picture to me. He was so proud of himself. He just wanted me to see... My 2 year old had to tell me to stop and listen to him. I had been too busy... I spent the next 20 minutes sitting on the kitchen floor talking and playing with my little buddy. How I never want to be too busy for my kids...

Come in, but don't expect to find

All dishes done, all floors ashine.

Observe the crumbs and toys galore.

The smudgy prints upon the door.

The little ones we shelter here

Don't thrive on a spotless atmosphere.

They're more inclined to disarray

And carefree even messy play.

Their needs are great,

their patience small.

All day I'm at their beck and call.

It's Mommy come! Mommy see!

Wiggly worms and red scraped knee.

Painted pictures, blocks piled high.

My floors unshined, the days go by.

Some future day they'll flee this nest,

And I at last will have a rest!

Now you tell me which matters more,

A happy child or a polished floor?

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words...

The reason I haven't blogged all week...

This of course doesn't show that Scott and I both had the flu too....and Ella broke through her top two front teeth this week. All just in time for the first week of school! I don't know how we would have made it without my Mom's help on Thursday...

I'm very thankful for our usual health, and very much looking forward to next week!

Happy New Year!!!

All of the kids made it until midnight! I was shocked. Well, except for Ella....that would have been bad. She went to bed around 9.

Looking a little tired at midnight!

We played Monopoly and Eve destroyed us. She ended up with over 50 million dollars, and almost all of the properties.

Then we played Scrabble, and I actually beat Scott!

Poor Jed was a little tired around 11:30...he was chasing the cats, tripped over the vacuum, and went head first into the corner of the wall. He had an instant lump, and quite the cut. He always had some sort of cut/lump/bruise on his head!

Remember how Scott and I woke the kids up with pots and pans a few years back??

Well, they returned the favour this year! :D

Happy New Year all!!!
