FAIL

Bad news: I have once again, failed at my 365.

Good news: Things are now feeling back to normal.

Thank you for the comments and emails asking if everything was okay. Everything is fine! Unfortunately, with a very different schedule, finishing up the school year, recitals, church events, and other activities… the blog has just taken a major backseat.

As of this week, Scott is back on night shift. (Insert a sigh of relief from both of us) I think we’ve both realized how much we appreciate mornings together as a family and Fridays off!  So here I sit, kids in bed reading, with my blogging and reading time back!

What have we been doing for the past 3 weeks?

Diagramming sentences, algebra, geometry, long division, long vowels, book reports, science experiments… We are now down to the last 3 days of school! My oldest daughter, is graduating grade 6!? Crazy.

We have plans for Wonderland in “both hands and one foot, minus one finger” days. Jed is counting down the sleeps…

Ella, who was terrified to even sit in a swing, now loves going as high as I can push her. She screams, “Weeeeeeee! This is SO fun!!!!” at the top of her lungs. She is ready for Wonderland!

Eve, did wonderfully at her violin recital. I was one proud Mama! She got up there in the midst of classical songs, and played “Cripple Creek.” (Think, fiddler…) I’m going to post the video!

This, is why I have missed blogging so much… I don’t remember the funny stories from 2 weeks ago!

Charity, is my official rice cooker. Keona, makes some amazing cornbread now- and yesterday, I taught Robbie to make biscuits. They were some fat biscuits- but they were good!

DSC_0152 copy

Last time Charity made biscuits, she accidentally measured the salt in ‘tablespoons’ instead of ‘teaspoons’… Yeah… other than that- they were perfect! I love that the kids love to cook. I see a day coming, eventually, when I won’t have to cook. Maybe… I can dream…

Well, I won’t ramble on forever in order to catch up- I’ll save some fun stuff for tomorrow!

ellaboo

My three year old Ella-boo…

She was talking on the phone with her Dad today, and I listened to her repeat the same thing about 5 times. I guess she got tired of him not understanding her, so she huffed and said, “Listen to me!!!” And then went on with her story.

She has also learned how to use “Daddy.” For the most part, all of our kids have called us, “Mom” and “Dad”- However, Ella has recently started calling him “Daddy” when she’s asking for something. He looks at me as if he’s helpless! ha…

You’d think he’d be immune to it- her being the 5th girl and all!

Apparently not.

It doesn’t quite work the same way with me. This afternoon, she came running into the living room, out of breath, lightsaber in hand, and hid behind the couch I was sitting on. She checked the doorway to make sure her brothers weren’t coming, then looked at me and said, “Don’t worry. I won’t kill you.”

Gee… thanks.

I think?…

prayer

My husband’s version of a 365.

Prayer was dressed in a pretty… let’s say “funky” outfit to help take the garbage out and Scott decided that we needed a picture of it. I was busy at the moment, so he took one. Assuming that it was a decent shot, I didn’t bother to take another picture that day… oh well! ha! This picture is kinda like the past week- a blur!

My hunny bought me roses. When he was mad at me.

I forgot my camera was set to “monochrome.”

I had big plans to make Ella a “Rainbow Cake” for her birthday. Yesterday, she declared that she DID NOT want a rainbow cake- “Only a PINK cake!” How could I refuse? She just made my life so much easier.

Plus, I was finally getting to use my new cake stand!

A $2.00 metal candlestick, a $1.50 plate, + a can of white spray paint and some glue… I love Value Village!

Hard to believe that this is the only picture I took of her birthday party!

But seriously, she was one busy 3 year old! We got up bright and early to go shopping at Old Navy with my 50% off coupon. Then, Scott and I took her to get her “holes”- ears pierced. Which I did videotape… She didn’t shed a single tear! She barely even flinched! I was a tad bit worried, cause the night before she told me that she didn’t want to get holes anymore, cause it was going to hurt… She did great!

Then, she came home to a house full of streamers and balloons, thanks to her big sisters and Aunty Sarah and Adam. We did cake and presents, and then she went out again! This time, she went to Build-a-Bear, with Sarah. Even after all of this, she kept insisting that she WAS NOT tired…

I’ll have to do some portrait shots of my three year old (crazy!) this week…

moms day

Mother’s Day

We stopped at the grocery store on our way to church this morning, and no joke, every single man who came walking out of the store, had flowers in hand. The kids and I got a kick out of it. They plan to let me sleep in tomorrow, and I’m even hearing rumours of breakfast-in-bed… Winking smile

This morning, I woke up to my kids whispering in the hallway about letting me sleep in. Funny, how they wanted to let me sleep in, but every 5 minutes someone ran into my room to check if I was up yet! :) On my way downstairs, I was handed homemade cards, and a breakfast menu! Elijah, sat me down on the couch and pulled a piano bench over to me that had quite the assortment of candy on it. I told them that I would pass on the candy- they willing gobbled it up for me! Then, the girls made me a bowl of cereal and Elijah turned on my dining music- Patch the Pirate’s “Cherish the Moments”… It was sweet.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, we’re not  standing on a bus like I originally thought on Jed`s card- it`s our van… :D

“Mom, there’s a hole in the wall upstairs!”

Apparently, Jeddy got upset when someone else was using the bathroom and he had to go- so he punched the wall. I’m still not sure how he managed to put a hole in it. He hit it with his hand, and his fist sits perfectly in the hole. I swear, our walls are not made of paper. The girls, claim it’s cause he eats so much broccoli. He didn’t get in trouble this time, cause he was honest and told me that he did it- plus, I think he was in just as much shock as I was that he had put a hole in the wall… Yikes! Just call him “Hulk”…

114 to… something- 2011

Yes, we are still alive.

And no, I have not completely forgotten about my blog.

The past week has been filled with…

-helping kids practice songs for recitals

-preparing for quarter tests

-report cards

-piano lessons

-kids throwing up in the middle of the night

-cleaning

-cooking

-laundry

You know… nothing special. Nothing exciting. Just… life.

I was so used to blogging every night while I sat here by myself that I have to find a new routine. No complaints though. I LOVE having my hubby home every night! Maybe I’ll start blogging during lunch break? Though, I’m usually eating and marking school work then… ah, I’ll figure something out! :)

Until then, here is the past week in review…

I wanted a picture of all of my kids in their Easter colours. Apparently, they weren’t quite so interested. Especially Jed down in the front. Such is life. Then, my camera battery died. (my April photo of the kids)

We spent Monday at my grandparent’s house in Mississauga. My Grandma bought the kids all sorts of new clothes. In her words, she “can’t help herself when it comes to shopping for dresses!” Ella, doesn’t mind one bit! It will be fun trying to convince her this week that she cannot ride her tricycle in a giant, fluffy, “dancing”, church dress…

Did I mention that I let the boys play with my cell phone on the drive out, they killed the battery, and I didn’t bring my charger? Knowing that I was going to be driving home alone, at night, with all the kids, I figured I better grab a charger. I got robbed at the Bell store. Scott was not impressed.

The girls broke a pen in the van, my sister offered to fix it and had ink spill all over her and her purse. All this while Jeddy was yelling, “Look at the ginormous airplane!!!!” As we drove by the airport.

Then, Robbie wanted to arm wrestle everyone. I think I may retire while I’m ahead. He almost had me. I think Maryanne went easy on him… Smile with tongue out

I asked Ella if I could take her picture tonight. She wagged her finger at me as she said, “OK. Only ONE. OK?” I snuck in about 3 before she started giving me her crazy eyes.

Tonight, Scott jokingly said that he was going to lock me outside in the storm. (I can’t remember why) Jeddy, jumped to my rescue and said he would break the door down to let me in, while Elijah said he would leave me out there! “That way, I can play more video games with Dad!” When all the kids went to bed, I let Jeddy stay downstairs and have a bowl of ice cream. It pays to stick up for Mom!

Waking him up every night before I go to bed to get him to use the bathroom. That kid can sleep! It is a fight every night to pull him out of bed.

Elijah, wrote a story for school today about a squirrel- and kept spelling it “sqirrel”. When I asked him, “Elijah, what letter always comes after ‘Q’?” He replied, “R?”

It gave Scott and I a good laugh. Then I explained that I didn’t mean in the alphabet… he figured it out. :)

I forgot to mention that Elijah, was our winner for this quarter! He had the highest grades, with an average of 94.7%!!! We are quite proud of him, and he’s looking forward to a special dinner out with Dad. Actually, I’m proud of all of the kids! Everyone had an above 90% average.

120

Looks bad, right?

Not so much. She dropped a bottle of nail polish and it broke open. She was standing 2 inches in front of the couch. The bottle landed and spilt under the edge of the couch, somehow splashed up and got on her chin- but nothing got on the couch! Whew…

121

pillows

We’ve had sickies here, on and off all week. Everyone seemed fine today, just extra tired. I know that though I was excited to be at church, had fun with all the kiddos in the nursery, had a great lunch out with Scott’s parents for his Dad’s birthday, a wonderful banquet and evening service- I couldn’t wait for my head to hit the pillow again.

122

My Prayer… “Mom, can I be your 365 today???” Wearing the new hat that I made this weekend. Loving the puff stitch! I shall try and be more creative next time. This was a practice go.

It was college graduation tonight, Scott and I planned to hit a few parties after the grad since his parents were watching the kids- but no such luck. His sore throat when we left home, got worse by the minute and then he had a nasty fever. We’re thinking strep throat and doctor’s first thing tomorrow morning.

We voted together for the first time tonight! And since this is my blog, I feel completely free to say this, “WOoohoooo!” Was so relieved to see a Conservative majority government. When I was a kid, my Grandpa would never discuss who he was going to vote for. I remember one year, my Grandma saying that she was going to vote for the Green party just “to try something different”… I can still see my Grandpa sitting in his chair shaking his head!

Strep throat, indeed.

Seriously hoping I don’t catch it…
