Google to the Rescue

You may remember me mentioning several things breaking in a recent post. Honestly, my washer was the biggest concern. Just getting back from the cottage, I’m sure you can imagine the mountain of laundry that sat waiting. Late last Friday night, I was washing a few loads and the clicking and clunking kept getting louder and louder. I decided to google it. I came upon a post by a guy who said that his washer was doing the same thing and it ended up being 3 baby socks stuck in the pump filter. Hmmm… Well, baby socks don’t click, but everything else fit. So now where in the world was the pump filter, what did it look like, and how do I get into it? I went back to trusty google and searched how to find the pump filter.

I watched a YouTube video on how to get into it and thought I’d give it a go. Mind you, it was 11:30pm and I was trying to do this on my own. About 10 minutes into the process I ended up calling the triplets out of bed to hold the washer up for me! Half an hour, a baby sock (Yes, I said a baby sock!), two lego man legs, a lego light saber, a scrabble tile, a hair tie, beads, a bandaid, 23 cents later, and a handful of dog hair later, we had the washer working like new!

The girls thought it was great that we fixed it on our own!

Seriously, what did we do before Google??

And just because I can’t leave you with that nasty picture of all the filter junk…

Look who second shot my last wedding with me!

Phonograms, Birthdays, and a Runaway Dog

I have missed blogging! There are so many little stories that I will forget because I haven’t written them down. So many things the kids have said…

Like Prayer declaring that she was “sweating like a hotdog in the desert!”

Or Ella practicing her phonograms…

Sa, like ‘sat’.

Se, like ‘set’.

So, like ‘sock’.

Su, like ‘wasup’.”

I blame her father for that one.

DSC_0292

Ella’s turn to add the star.

Lily now says, “Dum” (some) when she wants us to share food. “Lub ooo!” (Love you) “Mum! Mum!” As soon as I walk in the room.

12 months

12 months

Her sisters have taught her to go up and down the stairs. It’s quite hilarious to watch her crawl backwards while trying to find the top of the steps with her toes!

Keona taught her to feed herself. It keeps her busy and happy, but it’s incredibly messy…

Did I mention that Lily turned 1? Cause she did!

cake

It was also my little brother’s 13th birthday! My little brother who just passed me in height…

The cake may have been a tad bit sweet for her fruit, veggie, and grain taste buds…

The kids decorated the tree! I did nothing this year. And other than the 6 candy canes in a row across the bottom branch (courtesy of Ella) they did a really good job! As they said the next morning, “Mom, you didn’t even redecorate it!” :)

The dog has grown.

great dane growth

A lot.

He ran out the front door the other day and jumped on a neighbour’s kid. I shouted at him and called him back. He ran the opposite way. I apologized to the father, who seemed to find it funny, and then proceeded to try and catch my 75lb puppy. He eventually came over to me and walked back home. We’ve been doing some serious training since that little incident.

I cut my bangs! Not so exciting, I know. I wanted to do something new with my hair, but I settled with dying it black to hide all the white and cutting my bangs because I’m too chicken to cut my hair. This is the longest it has been since I was… 10?

Gotta love iPhone self-portraits!

I’m incredibly excited about a new type of photoshoot I’ll be offering in the new year! I have my first official “Birth Photo Session” scheduled as soon as momma-to-be goes into labour! I’ll be portfolio building for a bit, so if you or someone you know wants their baby’s birth documented- contact me!

The kids are done school until next year! I would post the picture of Keona’s “happy dance”, but I can’t force myself to do it. I made her promise me that she’d never try to dance in public again… haha! DSC_0470

Begging his sisters for icing, or cake batter, or something like that!

I am enjoying my kids. Sure they drive me to the brink of insanity some days… but I love them to death. I wouldn’t trade these days at home with them for anything. Did I ever blog about the time that I had told the kids to be quiet while I was making a few phone calls? I was trying to leave a message for our dentist when a full-out brawl broke out right beside me. I finished my message, set down my phone, and proceeded to tell the kids off for being so inconsiderate. (Forget the fact that they were on the floor wrestling- I was trying to make a phone call!) Anyhow, after telling them off correcting them loudly, I picked my phone back up, only to realize that I had never hung up. Must have made for an interesting message.

Anyhow, December has been a great month with the kids so far. God is so good to us! I’ll share about our “advent calendar” in the next post! :)

Oh, did I mention that Scott was writing something the other day with a pen (!) when he admitted to looking back at a word, expecting to see a red squiggly line underneath it, and thought, “Oh, I spelled it right!” You know you’re using your iPad too much when… :P

Wouldn’t be a complete post without poking fun at Scott!

Love ya, hun!

Daddy’s Lefty…

This girl likes to pose for me. She’s the one who will come up to me and ask, “Mom, will you take some pictures of me!?”
To which my response is always, “Sure!”
the many faces of charity My only girl who turned out to be a lefty- my hubby, and both of my boys are also. So, she always feels it necessary to be on “Dad’s team”- even when everyone else is cheering for mom! :)

The middle one depicts her perfectly. Always laughing.

And here’s my fave…
Love her.

My musician…

Who wanted her hair cut short again just to be “different”…
the many faces of eve
Eve is definitely the more serious one of the triplets. It took her a few minutes to just relax and give me some different faces. Bottom middle is definitely my fave! :)

Love my Evie-kins…

The crazy one’s turn…

Ok so she isn’t really crazy- but she does like to act crazy just for fun!
the many faces of prayer
Prayer had the highest average for our first quarter of school. Scott took her out to Sunset for breakfast, and when he asked her to pray for the meal- she said, “…and God, please help someone else to win for the next quarter so they get to go out for a breakfast with Dad too.”

Scott decided he’ll take her out as well as the winner next time.
Attitude and character is so much more important than grades…

My Little Man…

I have called Elijah “my little man” since the day he was born.
Though most people think he’s so serious and quiet- he definitely has a loud and crazy side.
Just ask his sisters…
the many faces of elijah
Now I’m debating about whether or not to do one of Scott and I…
Then we could have one with each of our faces in it.
Hmm….

… and the dimples!

I took the advice of a friend and decided to one of these for each of my kids. Now they can’t wait for their turns!
I just told him to make some different faces for me and away he went!

The difference between Jed and Ella- he couldn’t wait to be done because this is what he really wanted to do on my bed…

Model or comedian?

When I asked her if I could take her picture this afternoon- her reply was, “I can wear makeup!?”

She knows that whenever I do a (planned) photo shoot of the kids, I put chap stick on them so we don’t have dry lips.

So I agreed, gave her some lip gloss, and this is what she gave me…

Every single shot was completely unprompted.
She just started modeling, so I started shooting!
This kid has some serious personality. :)

Bed head…

That pretty much describes our entire family today. All 9 of us are in serious need of some hair cuts. I am responsible for all of the kids’ hair cuts- which I will take care of tomorrow. After all, we can’t have them walking around looking like this…

bedhead

Scott will go see his favourite barber… and I… I will attempt to give myself a much needed trim before the weekend.

I’m trying my very best to save every extra penny for Christmas shopping. I’ve done well so far! While I was talking to my mom on the phone tonight I said, “I get Old Navy coupons and I tell myself, ‘No, they don’t need any more clothes!’”

And then all three triplets in unison, piped up, “Then you go buy them anyways!”

Excuse me!?!?

I have been extremely frugal lately. Atleast according to my standards.

My darling husband on the other hand…

Today, we couldn’t find Ella’s black sweater that she was going to wear this Sunday. (All 4 girls have matching ones) We looked for hours- literally! I checked the van… everywhere we could think of. When Scott called and heard that I was annoyed over the sweater he said, “Where’d you get it? Worst case scenario- you go buy another one before Sunday.”

He always wants to see me happy, and make my life easier. Regardless of what it may cost him.

Remember the Nikon incident?…

By the way, we finally found the sweater. In Elijah's drawer. The 3rd time I sent him to check…

Hoping for a less busy, and more productive day tomorrow.

I’ll end with my new favourite picture of Elijah.

Just so you know that he doesn’t look that crazy all the time… ;)

A Wedding and a Giveaway!

So not to giveaway any of the real wedding pictures until the official “sneak peek”- but thought I’d share this one of my girls all ready to go get ready!DSC_0002 I definitely would not have wanted to be in this shot. I never realized how much I appreciate my makeup, until I had to go out without any! Thankfully, it was 8am on a Saturday, and my neighbours weren’t out and about yet.

I woke the girls up at 6am, and they for some reason, felt it necessary to wake up the rest of the children. I started curling hair and pinning it up right away. I started to stress out a bit as 7am rolled around, and sent kid after kid to go wake up Scott. Finally, at 7:30am he came downstairs and I was saying, “We have to leave now! I’m going to be late to get my hair and makeup done!” He looks at me, looks at the clock, and says, “Why are we leaving at 7:30???” I look at the clock… “Oops…”  Yeah, we didn’t have to leave until 8:30. Atleast everything was ready to go…

I took these pictures of my little brother when he was over the other day. My little brother who HATES to smile for the camera. I think that deep down- he’s a total ham in hiding!I mean, all I had to do is make fun of him a bit, and I got these!

robbie_jacs2 Robbie held onto my camera for parts of the reception while I was sitting at the head table. Here are a few of my favourite snapshots that he captured…

Stef making her grand entrance! :)

Ella trying to open Adam’s mouth… or something like that. She was just a tad bit exhausted and yet incredibly hyper at this point.

As you will see in this next series of pictures…

Brushing Grandma’s hair…

She can be a little rough sometimes…

Ouch!

Maybe Grandma wasn’t co-operating???

No matter what Prayer says…

She did not learn this method of hair-doing from me!

Oh boy… thanks for taking care of my camera for me Rob!

He Cheats…

DSC_0853

Last night while we were playing Scrabble, Scott played the word “wop.” I wasn’t sure if it was an actual word, but figured it wasn’t worth challenging. So a few turns later, when I had a bingo and made it “wops”… he challenged it! Get that? He challenged his own word! Which turned out not to be a word after all… Though, I think he already knew that.

We had a good Monday. For a Monday… :)

My house is clean, and I only have 3 baskets of laundry waiting, so I call that a good day!

Even if I did get a headache from Ella banging on the piano all morning!

DSC_0713 copy

She is getting quite the attitude on her. This morning, she told me “no” while giving me cut-eye. But then she told me, “Potty!” and actually used the toilet- so I forgave her…

I finally have my new dot com up and running, so feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! I’m not quite finished, but it will do for now.

(Just click the picture!)

Now, I am ready for bed!
