My kindergartner and her puppy after a long day at school…

It’s so hard to choose ONE photo when I have taken hundreds of my own family, along with thousands of other people and their families. So I’ll just say that this is one of my favourites. :)
My little Ella-boo hates sitting still for pictures…
I convinced her to go for a walk with me one day during the fall. It was windy and freezing, but she co-operated for this shot. The very next frame she was pouting – but at least I got one!
My daughter loves playing her guitar- so it just seemed right to bring it along for our mini photo shoot.
I am in love with the autumn colours around our new house this year.
This weekend, we spent over 7 hours in a van with ten people.
While we were driving back to the hotel on Saturday night, my husband hit the brakes and made a sharp turn.
Just as I started to think “What in the world?…”
I noticed that he had pulled up next to a park.
He knew that amidst all of the busyness of our weekend- the kids and I needed some time to just “enjoy life”.
We spent over an hour running, laughing, sliding, and swinging together.
It was the perfect spontaneous break that we needed.
One of my favourite couples that I’ve had the honour to photograph!
They’re beautiful people- inside and out.
"When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! "

My oldest daughter, has always been a bookworm.
Since the time that she was 1 and I’d read the same baby board book to her over, and over again… To an 11 year old, who’s favourite author is now Jane Austen… she loves her books.
I chose this photo cause it perfectly depicts her- curled up in a corner, with a blanket, reading a book…
I had a blast shooting my friend, Stef, and her three kids. This shot was one of my faves because of how their personalities are all shining through. We spent a good 10 minutes trying to get a shot of all three of them blowing a bubble at the same time- it was hilarious! No one is looking at the camera here, because they were all trying to co-ordinate their bubble-blowing and I just adore the interaction between them… :)
Most definitely one of the “funnest” families I know!
How do you choose just ONE face?
Going through all of my photos from 2011, made me incredibly thankful for all the many faces that surround me; new and old!
But if I had to choose just one image, it would be this one…
I love how real her expression is. How her eyes are looking through my lens. Her natural, slightly-chapped lips…
This, is the other side of my crazy girl.
I love watching the innocent wonder of a child as they explore the world around them.
This picture, captures my youngest perfectly.
She is the epitome of a “girly-girl”- yet, she has two older brothers that she plays with all day long.
Here she is picking flowers, naturally. (from my garden none-the-less)
And yet, also carrying around the toad that her big brothers found.
Not to mention the super hero cape… :)
“Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes…”
Ok, so snow really isn’t one of MY favourite things- though it does make for beautiful pictures!
We haven’t had many substantial snow falls yet this year- so I was really hoping for one before this challenge.
Thankfully, Saturday morning, we had what my kids were calling a “blizzard.”
My daughter, was more than happy to go out in it for a few shots! :)
A few weeks ago, I decided to put a collage of different faces together for each of my children. Sometimes it’s so hard to get a genuine smile out of kids who are used to “posing.”
I believe that I was making fun of her little brother, who was standing in the doorway watching while I took this shot. I can always get a smile out of my kids when I start making fun of them! :)
And this smile- laugh even… is so genuine.
So, Charity.
Happy 2nd birthday i heart faces!
Head on over to their website to check out some more gorgeous smiles!
This was not an easy decision. I had so many “favourite faces” from 2010. Having 7 children, I was finding it difficult to choose just one as a favourite. So, I went a different route.
This is the face of my best friend. The one I have woken up to every morning for the last 10 years.
I took this while we were in Niagara Falls for our 10th anniversary. We were sitting in the Keg enjoying a gorgeous view of the falls.
Definitely, one of my favourite faces.
It’s been a while since I entered an i heart faces photo challenge- but when I saw that it was “Orange” week, I knew it would be perfect for my oldest daughter! She loves the colour orange. Me.. not so much! She is always insisting on wearing orange nail polish. I try to convince her otherwise- but this girl knows what she likes.
She thanks you for the opportunity to wear (and drink!) all things orange!
I would pay the full admission price at Wonderland just to have one of their funnel cakes.
Fortunately, (or unfortunately… my waistline will decide) I have learned to make them at home.
