More from our Vacation

(Once again, these are all SOOC… still haven’t got around to editing…)

DSC_0986

The last time that we were in PEI, the kids were alot smaller…

DSC02622

Jeddy wasn’t walking yet, and Ella hadn’t been born.

Ella, who played in the sand…

DSC_0030

And then threw a mini-tantrum cause she didn’t like being wet and sandy.

I could have taken cloud pictures all day long. They were stunning, every day of our vacation.

Scott: “Jeddy, do not get your clothes all wet!”

DSC_0056

He’s not really known for being being cooperative…

DSC_0907

So, since they were already wet- Scott decided to do some baptisms…

    DSC_0061

This was the beach that we didn’t want to leave. So, thankful for the old man that told us where to find it.

Here, you can see the confederation bridge in the background…

How our tires looked at the end of the day…

Scott, asks me to drive- but then he is bored with my driving… so he amuses himself by doing things like this…

Taking a picture of himself pretend- sleeping…

The real Ella at St. Huberts…

This is what she now does when she sees the camera. This, or she hides her face.

DSC_0213

On our drive home- Scott pulled over to the side of the highway for me to snap this picture.

DSC_0241

I miss the ocean.

I am so thankful that we were able to go on vacation and enjoy it together- as a family.

You should have seen his belly flop…

Sarah’s friend Amanda, was kind enough to let us all invade her pool on Friday afternoon. The kids had a blast! Keona and Robbie enjoyed jumping off the diving board, and fighting over the tube, whilst nearly drowning eachother. Elijah flipped upside-down in it one time and all we could see was his feet poking up through the top! Aunty Sarah helped him out. Jeddy was terrified at first, until I pulled him in and he realized that he could stand in the shallow end. Then… we couldn’t get him out!

Thanks again Amanda!

Hair, Hair, and more… Hair!

First of all, here are the before and after pictures of Keona and Somiya.

DSC_0697

DSC_0704

First Keona wanted to keep it long. Then, she saw Somiya’s and wanted to cut it short but her hair cut was already done. Today, she told me that she’s growing it down to her waist so that she can cut it and donate it to Locks of Love… Indecisive, just a bit?

They picked out those matching shirts and scarves at Old Navy. Every year, Scott buys Keona a necklace for her birthday. This year, she picked pearls. Apparently, she “has always wanted pearls!”

And as for the triplets…

DSC_0120

It won’t be so hard to tell them apart anymore!

DSC_0122

Prayer got the bangs that she has been asking for…

 DSC_0128

Charity got the layers that she wanted…

DSC_0124

And Eve… She got to “be different” like she wanted.

She’s loving the shorter hair!

DOuble digits…

My baby, the one who kept me in labour for two days- she turned 10 today.

I always knew she was growing up. I always said that I was excited to see who she’d become. People always told me how quickly the time would go. I didn’t believe them. Those baby and toddler days seem so long. But I look back, and the years seem so short.

Keona has always been very opinionated. She was never afraid to tell someone how she felt, or that she thought they were wrong. I love that about her. She can be stubborn and bossy at times. I’m an oldest child too- so I get it.

She doesn’t like being corrected. Her eyes give her away. And yet, she is always humble enough to admit she was wrong. Though, it may take her a few minutes. I think Scott and I can both relate to that one.

She loves people. She respects them. Whether it be her friend, the slow old man walking in front of us, or the purple-haired employee at Old Navy. She “shows no favouritism”- as my kids like to say.

She loves God. Above all, I believe she wants to please Him. Whether she is a missionary, a teacher, or “just a Mom”… she is excited about figuring out what God’s will for her life is.

May she never lose that excitement.

Happy 10th Birthday!

DSC_0163

P.S. You are definitely my favourite oldest daughter! ;)

DSC_0114 copy Before…

This very well may be the last time I ever see my girls with the same hair. It’s just hair, right? Not a big deal. Except that hair has always been such a big deal to me! Just ask my sister about the many times I insisted on doing her hair before she left the house…

Today, it was time for a trim. Except that they all asked for different hair cuts! I always “Said” that I would allow them to have their hair how they like it- provided it isn’t obnoxious… and so I kept my word.

I shall share the after pictures tomorrow. They want Dad to see it first. :)

kids reading

Reading time….

We went to our bookstore today. Also known as “Value Village.” We bought over 30 books, for less than twenty dollars. Now that’s a deal! Everything from Pooh and Tigger, to The Bobbsey Twins and Geronimo Stilton. I didn’t notice until we got home, that Jed had snuck a few in the cart while I wasn’t looking… Keona and I figured out that we got 12 books for the price we would have paid for ONE Geronimo Stilton at Chapters….

P.S. I drove our huge new van around, parked in parking lots and everything! I’m actually really liking it. :)

Mystery Lego men…

Nana bought the girls some more “Mystery Lego men” for their birthdays. You get a little package that you can’t see in, and inside is one of about 16 different little lego people. I think they almost have them all now. Their favourite part? Putting the cheerleader's head on the ninja body, and the long blonde hair on the skater boy, not to mention the clown face on the nurse… fun stuff!

Great Grandpa and Toad

He didn’t actually bite him… It just looks like it.

We had our annual July BBQ, in honour of the 5 birthdays we celebrate in July. And once again, Scott BBQ’d in the rain. It’s tradition.

Actually, it poured. Adam had to hold the giant golf umbrella several feet above Scott and the BBQ to try and keep things dry. I stayed inside and laughed. And took pictures. Which I’ll post tomorrow. :)

Ella was carrying around an empty gift bag, so Grandma decided to put some change in it for her. Then, Great-Grandpa put some change in it for her. And just like that- she had more money in her “purse” than I did. Later on we fed the money to her piggy. Actually, Keona’s piggy- which now belongs to Ella. And just like I used to with Keona, every time she dropped a coin in, I said, “Mmm, yum-yum-yum!”  And she laughs hysterically.

Just like Keona used to…

And I started a whole bunch of sentences with “and”… what can I say? It’s summer break! :P

“Best buds” at the mall

For Keona’s 10th birthday, I took her and her best friend to Shear Inspirations- Salon & Spa to get their hair done, and then to the mall to go shopping. I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE IS 10!!! Forgive the caps… but seriously! TEN?!?! My baby is growing up.

It was so much fun to follow them around and watch them shop. Reminded me of feeling so grown up with my friends at that age. I’ll share some more photos this week. Including the “Before & After” shots. ;)

Baking lemon cake…

And I can now say (because it’s several days later) that it was a disaster! I tried to make it all from scratch. Never a good idea when you’re pressed for time. I made a lemon filling for the middle of the cake, and by time I finished icing the top and the sides- I’m pretty sure that I squished most of the filling out. Then, Keona convinced me to try and make candied lemon with the left over peels… They burnt. To a crisp. The sugar water stuff was glued to the bottom of my frying pan. It all happened while I was being burnt by the bacon I was frying for the Caesar salad. It definitely wasn’t one of the pretty fondant cakes from the past. But it, and my lopsided carrot cake- did the job.

I just heard Jeddy say, “Ella, eat it!”

My boys…

I was attempting to take an “after” shot because we had just finished some major haircuts, but as per usual- the boys weren’t overly cooperative. I have a bunch of funny pictures, but this is my favourite. I love how you can tell that Jeddy is looking to his big brother to see if he’s laughing. Looking for his approval. The sibling relationship always amazes me. Once Elijah said, “OK smile for mom’s picture!” We got a good one within seconds…

Then Jeddy said, “My hair looks better than yours, Elijah. Because I have black hair and you have brown…”

I love my boys.

Black and brown hair alike!

The kids after church

I would have used THIS photo… but then I remembered that I never did post a picture for the triplets’ birthday.

We were taking some pictures at the the playground after church, and let the kids do a “fun” one after they smiled for a few nice ones. :)

A Wii wheel

Exciting- I know. This is what i did today. While I was home with sick kids, I played Wii with them. After the kids went to bed, I played Wii with Scott. And lost… badly. I’m still slightly bitter.

Promising a better post for tomorrow,

Jac

12 seater

Shopping for a 12-seater

I remember all my plans as a teenager… I would brag to my sister about how I would NEVER be a “soccer mom” or drive a mini-van. I would have two kids at the most. I envisioned a trendy car, painted in an obnoxious colour. Yep, those were MY plans. Apparently, God had a whole different plan for me. I kinda like His better… :)

I never did have just two kids. Well, only for about 45 seconds…

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
-Isaiah 55:6-9

P.S. My sister who had to listen to all MY plans, will SO laugh her guts out at me the first time I pick her up in this…

kids at park

Sand, anyone?

Why would you put a splash pad right beside a park full of sand? Why not, woodchips? Or, that foam-ground stuff? Or even pebbles? But sand it is…

Mind you, this picture was taken right after they decided to roll around in it… and right before they ran through the splash pad again.

Did I mention that our neighbour had a squirrel sitting on his shoulder today? He was petting it, and feeding it.

Who does that???

Last Sunday, when this same squirrel tried to climb Scott’s leg, we debated over whether it was rabid, or blind.

OK… I’ll admit- the blind squirrel thing was my idea.

Brilliant- I know.

Scott’s response, “So that’s where the girls get it from…”

In my defence- after it sat on his shoe, it just stayed there on the path for like 3 minutes. Like it didn’t know where it was going… OR… like it couldn’t SEE where it was going.

Atleast I didn’t suggest that it “thought he was a giant walking tree” PRAYER…

It seems we were all mistaken, and the little creature was just trying to mooch some food…

cake

So what?….

If we look like complete nerds…

And I was still wearing this cornstarch-covered shirt several hours later when her friend came to pick up the cake…

She actually rode home on the bus looking like that!

And you can’t even see her white black pants in this picture…

When my mom came to pick up Robbie, one of the girls asked her where her “pinktooth” was…

My mom has a pink Bluetooth

Completely Random, still sitting on my desktop, waiting to be filed, items….

Scott and I, mid-water fight at the family BBQ…

Thanks once again, Nadine…

Who, by the way, is engaged!!!

Congratulations! :)

Jeddy, touching the snake at the mall. I did have my phone with me, but it wasn’t ready in time for the “ginormous” toad.

Jeddy, and his buddy Jessica, after church on a Sunday night. She wore her shades in the morning, so he had to wear his that night! They’re so cute.

Had someone send me this pic online.

I can’t remember where it was from, but they sell cards with phrases like this…

I thought it was hilarious!

My favourite pic from our vacation…

I still have tons of others to share as well! Just trying to get caught up on business photos first. :)

elijah and el on sand dune

And… our whole family in our Old Navy Canada Day shirts! Gotta love Old Navy’s sales…

I had pictured us in these shirts, standing in a field, with tall grass blowing in the wind, and maybe even the sun setting behind us, using my tripod and remote…

Instead, I got this. A photo in our hotel room, right after swimming for 2 hours, with my camera balanced on some Nancy Drew books, and a son who would not quit making funny faces.

Will have to do! :)

Poor Eve… (in the grey)

We accidentally got her a ladies’ medium, instead of a girls’…

The 80’s knot-in-your-shirt, came in handy. ;)

And last but not least…

Keona’s first solo in church- right before Scott preached on Sunday night.

Thanks for taping it, Nana!
