Influence

People move mountains by the power of influence. Many a man has inspired, transformed, reformed, and conformed entire civilizations by being what he believed he could, and daring others to follow.

Pyramids have been constructed, peace attained, nations divided, oceans crossed, space walks attempted, heroes hated, kings dethroned, rebellions fuelled, religions propagated, philosophies of entire generations sold by the power of the influence of a man or woman speaking, and convincing of something with passion.

Souls have been reached as truth has been preached. Lives changed by the power of speech. “I have a dream” echoed, causing people to forsake their own dreams and cling to another’s. What is your dream? Is it yours? Or have you bought it from another? Perhaps it was forced upon you. Quenching the folly of delusion, it wrought in you a vision of truth. Dare to dream? Yes. Yet dream never above right, never above sight.

“A man once said” has lead off countless messages of influence. Transforming the minds of the hearers into a field of seeded ground awaiting fruit, the influencer peddles his product.

“I believe” is a message of intent. It states, “I am persuaded of this improvable thought, and I am willing to let it be known so that others would also be persuaded.” If not so, then one would simply have his belief, and none would ever know. Influence is that thing that we are constrained by love to offer, that one might be persuaded of the same life or death belief. Influencing others is not an option if you love them.

For they must be convinced that harm will harm, that right is right, that pain hurts, that joy is worthy of its name, and that our salvation is afforded all! Influence is our only tool. And a powerful and mighty tool it is.

By influence we pray to move the hand of God. By influence we face temptation by the crafty lies of Satan, our nature, and his world. By influence children are turned from innocent to evil. By influence evil is turned about face toward righteousness. By influence you have been changed to find the blessings you enjoy. By influence a teacher changes his students. By influence media challenges our beliefs and person. By influence of what you see and hear your eternity may be decided. O! The power of the tongue!

Be careful of your words today, O influencer. For it may be this very day that the good ground of a childlike heart may hear your influence, buy your dream, believe your belief, and carry them on by their echo to the generations to come, of which you will never see.

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
(2Ti 2:1-2)

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
(Psa 127:3-5)
