Vanity

DSC_0363 Drowning in nothing, suffocated by heaps of void, trampled ‘neath the feet of no one, I look up and see value.

Mass-produced vanity swells to fill the horizon. Now we have so much nothing, we have nowhere to keep it. Keeping nothing in nothing. Spending vanity for vanity. Holding nothing with a tight stingy grasp, lest we lose it all.

Everything is nothing. All is loss. To own everything would be to have nothing, and to gain it all would be to lose everything. Strive, dear friend, strive and pay. Labour and bleed; cry and plead. And in the end, carry all that you have gained to the pit where you go.

Drink pleasure, and heap riches. What have you won? Nothing. For everything is nothing, and nothing is everything. No matter what you gain, you leave it all. No matter what you reach, you must soon fall. Six feet await you, Oh tireless, restless strife. For you are nothing, you keep nothing, and all will soon be nothing.

Where is value, if all will be lost? Why live? Why strive? Why continue one breath more? Vanity. All things are vanity. Dust held together by a denied Power. Elements clasped in waiting for recycle. Your world is vanity. Everything you own, one day to be lost, buried, and burned. So strive, home owner. So strive, careless pleasured one. Drink back life as it were a keg, and awake in the morning to whatever it leaves. Vanity. Piles of pain-soaked vanity. Vanity to pay vanity to build vanity for the flame. So, build. So, labour. So spend all that has value to build that in waiting for the pit.

Most people will live their entire lives without anything of value.

Think of investments that are guaranteed to fail. Would you invest? Think of houses built on quicksand. Would you mortgage yourself for this? Consider marrying one already dead. Such is the vanity of most. You work for nothing. You invest your only value in things guaranteed to waste away. When warned, “That house is built on quicksand. Don’t buy it!” you mock, “There you go waving your crutch around again.” Surely, when you have sunk beneath the sand to be remembered no more you will be what you have lived to be, vanity.

So then where is value? What is worthy of our life? Why should we bother seek out truth if there is none? What is the point if there is no point?

Eternity is not vanity. Anything you can move from here to there is no longer vanity.

The soul bound from eternity by vanity, placed into eternity by Value, is never to be quenched, and never to be forgotten. If you ask and trust Christ for your eternity, you are no longer vanity, you are no longer temporal. Only someone without a proper perspective on reality would light himself on fire. Only a fool would take his undying soul, and cast it himself into a lake of fire. VANITY! Why live at all just to waste forever?! Remove vanity from your future, ask Christ to place you in eternity. He alone is the Door.

Other souls are not vanity. Anything you invest in others, after you know Christ, will never be forgotten in eternity.

The soul’s choice, your choice, is vanity or value.

Drink back suburbia and pile up your vanity, but in the end, all will be gone, and you will be left with what you have prepared for eternity. My heart is troubled deeply today as I look about and view your vanity. You who I love, and you who I embrace, watching as your house sinks into the sand. And what’s worse, sitting inside and doing nothing to stop it. Why must I watch you be vanity? Why must I weep as I watch you prepare to waste away in the vapour of vanity. I beg you choose value. I beg you, choose Christ.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

– Mark 8:35, Ezek 18:20, Rev 20:14, Rom 3:23-24, Rom 10:9-10,13

As I lay my head each night upon its place to rest, I know that my life is not vanity. I know it shall never end. For my life is hid with Christ, and in God. Ask Christ to give you the hope of eternity, and then, live a life of value, and meaning. Oh my dear beloved, don’t waste a moment more in vanity.
