God

DSC02725

How I long to see Him, for He gave the daylight warmth, the flower’s rare glow, the sunset’s always unique design. How I long to hear His sweet words, for He speaks and the ground shakes, the earth frets, and worlds are formed from nothing. And yet, His soft touching song breathes life to the faintest, weakest heart. I would hear His voice today, if I could. I would embrace God today, if He were to walk beside me. As I felt my way through this dark world, it was His light that guided me home. Brisk cold tiles line my path, but His touch warmed my soul and gave me zeal to press on. If I could hold His hand today, I would.

Echoes are what we have been given. Not signs, not vision, not even a glimpse of forever, but only its faint echo. If you listen, you can hear it.

In the stars, light echoes a glory we cannot explain. Look up at His hands work. Can we count them? Nay. Can we name them each one? No. Though we have viewed many, each time we’ve thought we have seen them all, a better telescope is built, more glory is revealed, and we become even smaller. Little man, dost thou stare up to heaven and claim to understand all?

Consider order. The vast vacuum of gravity and energy swirling galaxies as though drops of water in a bucket, mixing them like a flowing river. Each time we swing about the sun it is a reminder that it is as it was designed, our course, our path, our distance from it’s consuming power. For if we were just a slight bit closer, that figure of God’s glory, the sun, would consume our planet’s atmosphere and all its life. Oh little man, dost thou stare up into the heavens and think that we were simply nature’s little mistake? How could we be placed so, with the exact ingredients for our recipe, and all its order arranged? There is only one answer, as much as your hate denies, and He is waiting for you to concede.

Consider yourself. Consider your soul’s lost echo. Oh soul, consider love’s supernatural power! We are not as beasts, walking as our design forces, but rather as we choose. How could random chance give such a gift to a beast? We walk, not crawl, if we choose. We learn, to the place of the very atoms of His cosmos. We look through the things we have made to understand the things He has made which we used to make the things we have made. He gifted us so. He gave us the capacity to love, by choice, and direct howsoever we would. He gave us the power to overcome odds, evolve our minds, and change our future. We choose whether to allow Him or to deny Him His right in the throne. We choose whether to use what He has gifted us to do to give Him His place, or steal it for our own. Little man, deny you your gifts their place?

Consider your heart’s dark echo. Would you slay a man for pleasure? The thought is as vile as our deepest regret. In us, we have the knowledge of base goodness, and its opposite. Shall we fight it so? His gift is that we should have the power to enjoy giving. Anyone who has ever tasted selflessness knows its sweetness is beyond compare. All those who have drunk deeply the vile nature of selfishness know its bitter end and deep despair. If only we would allow Him to teach us the depth of goodness, that we may be perfected. Little man, why do you drink the cup of fools and claim to be wise?

Consider the fields swaying in the wind, echoing His breath. It is that breath that yields their fruit. It is His blessing that has fed our land and blessed our undeserving ancestors. You do not bring the rain, but He does. You do not hold back the pestilence, but He does. Little man, raise you your fist to the face of God as He feeds you, and clothes you with the fruit of His breath?

Consider today, my friend, His coming. I hear the victory song’s echo. For God shall not allow men forever, but will in these near predicted days, come. I shall see Him, hear Him, embrace Him. For I have tasted fully the grace of forgiveness and rejuvenating power of His love. He does not hate you little man, but has been drawing you, in spite of all that this world has attempted to steal in His name, He is good. He would replace all that raging hate has stolen, and give you that which your heart has searched a lifetime to find. Allow Him His place today, for it is only He that can fill that God-shaped hole in the void of your heart.

If you would allow me, might I introduce you to God?

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. – Rom 1:19-21

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. – Rev 4:11

“I need not shout my faith. Thrice eloquent are quiet trees and the green listening sod; Hushed are the stars, whose power is never spent; The hills are mute: yet how they speak of God!” – C. H. Towne

“Everywhere I find the signature, the autograph of God, and He will never deny His own handwriting…” – J. Parker

“Familiarity with nature never breeds contempt. The more one learns, the more he expects surprises, and the more he becomes aware of the inscrutable.” – A. Rutledge

Today, perhaps for the first time in your life, would you give thanks to God for the things that He has made for you?
